SPORT AT THE PLOUGH

Sporting Life

Sport is an important part of Pub life in general and The Plough caters well for all interests.

Televised

The Plough has 3 TV’s, one in the main bar area which is almost exclusively showing sport from Sky, Setanta and Terrestrial TV. There is also a large screen TV in the garden area and a projection TV in the back room which is brought into action during the more popular sporting events.

Pool

The Pool table is also a popular feature, usually operating on the House Rule of ‘Winner Stays On’. If you fancy your chances, watch out as The Plough has two resident Pool Teams. Pool Team practice takes place on Tuesday evenings between 8pm and 10pm and matches occur every Wednesday during Pool Season.

Cowboys and Cowgirls

The Plough is also the regular haunt of the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls. With men’s and women’s football teams, cricket teams and a netball team as well as an active support of the world anti-fascist movements, their website is well worth a look.

Going to the Dogs

Then there is the ‘Red Stripe Syndicate’ a collection of Plough frequenters (guess the drink of choice!) who have banded together to buy a Greyhound. Scartlea Rhino runs regularly at the Swindon Greyhound Stadium and is well worth a flutter as it has so far displayed remarkable form. The plan is to arrange monthly outings to the dogs to soak up the atmosphere and support the Rhino in person. Steeple Road Bear has now been given a good home in an Old Folks Home in the Midlands.

Ride Like The Devil Is On Your Tail

A recent addition to the sporting events is a cycle club. The club meet outside the pub at 11am on Sundays for a ride to Bath, with the return journey being a timed all out, although all are welcome. More details will follow as a meeting is being arranged soon to formalise the club.

And Finally

For those who like there sport more sedate, there's also a traditional Table Football Game, A Retro Video System featuring Space Invaders, Frogger and Pong - try the game below - amongst others and of course a Fruit Machine
